Georgia 'Dinner Train' Rides At Nashville

Published: May 15, 2026

By: Adam Burns

If you’ve ever wished you could slow down, trade traffic for jointed rail, and let a small-town landscape roll by your window while a hot meal is served at your table, the Azalea Sprinter delivers that experience in a very Georgia way: relaxed, welcoming, and rooted in local railroad heritage. Operated by CaterParrott Railnet, this excursion train runs over the historic Georgia & Florida Railroad in the heart of South Georgia, pairing vintage railcar comfort with themed outings that range from quick family rides to full-on dining events.

While the Azalea Sprinter offers multiple excursions throughout the year, its Dinner Trains are the headliners—an evening built around railroad atmosphere, polished service, and a true “special occasion” menu. Here’s what the Azalea Sprinter is, where it runs, and what makes its dinner service stand out among the region’s excursion offerings.

572064638_1365889122214459_4501521349488404988_n.jpgCaterParrott Railnet's E8A, #5000, is seen here ahead of an Azalea Sprinter excursion in the summer of 2025. The locomotive was built as New York Central #4084 in 1953.

A modern excursion built on historic rails

CaterParrott Railnet is, first and foremost, a working regional rail carrier in Georgia—handling freight service, transloading, storage, and related railroad services.  The history of these lines can be traced back to both the Georgia & Florida Railroad (Southern Railway) and Central of Georgia Railway.

But the company also has a passion for the “public-facing” side of railroading: putting passengers on the rails and letting communities experience their local line from a seat in a classic passenger car.

That’s where the Azalea Sprinter comes in. Marketed as South Georgia’s premier excursion train, it invites riders to experience rural Georgia’s scenery and small-town character aboard a heritage-style consist.

The railroad’s operating footprint for excursions centers on the communities around Nashville and Willacoochee, with trips that can include travel toward places like Moody, Ray City, and Valdosta, depending on the specific event and departure point.

Boarding and Excursion Locations

One of the Azalea Sprinter’s biggest strengths is that it feels like a local train—because it is. Boarding is designed to be straightforward, with two primary departure locations:

  • Nashville, GA (Nashville’s Farmers Market), 503 E Marion Ave
  • Willacoochee, GA (Downtown Willacoochee), 165 Fleetwood Avenue

From there, the train slips into South Georgia’s characteristic landscape: pine stands, open stretches of farmland, wetlands and creeks, and the quiet rhythm of towns that grew up alongside the railroad. It’s not a “mountain grade” kind of excursion—this is coastal-plain railroading, where the pleasure is in the unhurried pace, the wide sky, and the sense that you’re traveling through the everyday Georgia that most highways bypass.

The Experience

A key reason the Azalea Sprinter works so well for dinner service is that it offers distinct seating classes—so families, couples, and groups can pick the experience that fits the occasion.

According to the Azalea Sprinter’s own descriptions, the lineup includes:

  • Coach Car – Traditional reclining seating and an ADA bathroom, with family-friendly grouping (often in sets of four or six).
  • Club Car – Table seating with movable chairs, good window views, and a social vibe suited to groups and celebrations.
  • Executive Club Car – Positioned as a more upscale, “first-class” dining environment with a quieter, refined atmosphere.
  • PV Caboose – A private, bookable space meant for small parties looking for a railcar all to themselves, including amenities like WiFi and a private bathroom.

This kind of tiered setup is exactly what you want on a dinner train: it keeps the experience flexible (from casual to premium) without losing the charm of a shared rail journey.

Dinner Trains

The Azalea Sprinter markets its Dinner Train as its most popular excursion—and it’s easy to see why. It’s the combination of “date-night” dining and the unmistakable feeling of traveling by rail: gentle motion, long window views, and the romance of a trip that isn’t about getting somewhere fast. Core format and timing

Dinner Trains are scheduled at various times during the year and can depart from either Nashville or Willacoochee. The standard dinner-trip duration is listed as about 2.5 hours, built around a round-trip ride with dinner service and a cash bar.

That runtime is a sweet spot: long enough for a relaxed meal (and for the countryside to actually feel like a journey), but not so long that families with kids or travelers with a drive home are worn out.Club Car: live music + classic steakhouse energy

The Dinner Train’s Club Car is the lively, social “main event” environment. The railroad notes that Club Car dinner service includes live music and a 3-course menu described as salad, steak, two sides, rolls, and dessert.

That’s a tried-and-true formula for a successful dinner excursion: familiar comfort food, plenty of time to enjoy it, and entertainment that feels appropriate for an evening out—without turning the train into a loud party bus.Executive Class: quieter, more elevated dining

If you want the premium experience, the Executive Class seating is presented as a quiet car (no live music) with an “upscale” dining approach. The Azalea Sprinter describes a 5-course menu that adds extras like soup and lobster alongside the steak dinner, plus sides, rolls, dessert, and the full table service experience.

For many riders, this is the best option for anniversaries, milestone birthdays, or a “dress up and make a night of it” evening—especially if you prefer conversation and the soundtrack of the rails over live music.Private caboose option for small groups

For groups who want privacy, the PV Caboose option is designed as a self-contained experience—described with movable captain’s chairs, a kitchenette, WiFi, and a private bathroom—ideal for small celebrations, business outings, or family groups who want their own space.

This is the kind of premium offering that can turn an already fun excursion into a memorable event: your own railcar, your own vibe, and the same rolling scenery outside the windows.

Planning Your Trip

The best excursion trains don’t just run—you feel them. The Azalea Sprinter succeeds by pairing a real railroad setting (a working line with deep regional roots) with an onboard experience that knows what travelers want: comfort, hospitality, and an event that feels special without feeling stiff.

If your goal is a classic dinner train in Georgia—complete with table seating, attentive service, and South Georgia scenery rolling by at the speed of a bygone era—the Azalea Sprinter Dinner Train is exactly the kind of outing that turns an ordinary weekend into a story you’ll tell later.  To learn more about these excursions please click here to visit their website.
